ALPHA Ministries exists as an outreach to ALL WHO SEEK, freedom from unwanted same-sex attractions, thoughts, desires and behaviors.
Many believe that homosexuality should be either unconditionally accepted or, to the other extreme, completely condemned as an "unforgivable sin." Our Ministry, however, holds to God's biblical truths concerning sexuality while offering caring and unconditional support to those who struggle with same-sex attractions.
In our outreach programs our approach to homosexuals must not be judgmental or condemning, rather we are to love them the same as we would any other sinners. Most gays are already deeply aware that their lifestyle is wrong. They feel that they are outcasts and rejects from society. They suffer a deep inner anguish over their situation, but feel hopelessly unable to escape their sexual orientation. To further criticize and castigate them only serves to drive them further away. Generally speaking, gays feel hated and rejected by the church world. We can never see them saved until we can sincerely love them.

We should reach out to homosexuals with the same genuine love and compassion as we would with any other sinner. Our job is to offer hope and deliverance from sin through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to be the ambassadors for Christ, an embodiment of His love, given to the task of reconciling people to God.

Sis. Cindy Mayo attends the Apostolic Tabernacle in Merced, Ca, and her pastor is Bro. Sam Emory.
She has been Alpha Ministries Director since the ministry began in April of 2005.
Sis. Cindy has been active in many different facets of church work since her conversion in 1975. Her experience includes teaching at 2 Christian schools, teaching Sunday School, choir member, and youth camp counselor and nurse.
She is a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Sis. Cindy grew up in a very dysfunctional home where she endured years of physical, mental, and verbal abuse. She was molested by an uncle at a very young age. Due to these unfortunate circurmstances, a homosexual orientation developed in her life.
After being Baptized In Jesus Name, and being filled with the Holy Ghost, and receiving competent, professional Christian counseling, Sis. Cindy now lives an overcoming life! She has been transformed into not only a new creature in Christ, but she is also more than a conqueror!
Since becoming Alpha's Director in 2005, Sis. Cindy has received calls from all over the United States, and Canada from UPC pastors, family members, and individuals searching for help either for themselves or a loved one struggling with SSA, or homosexuality. 99.9% of all the people she has worked with have been UPC members, or were once UPC members.
Her first-hand experience and personal healing and restoration from homosexuality gives her hope and assurance to share with others that the God that led her through a process to wholeness is willing and able to do the same for others.
She believes that no one chooses to feel attracted to someone of the same sex. On the contrary, Sis. Cindy believes that most homosexuals try to deny the existance of their SSA, to pray it away, or to repress it until they become so discouraged by their inability to master the feelings that they "come out".
She also believes from her extensive research, personal experience, and working with those seeking freedom from unwanted homosexuality, that childhood sexual abuse is the most dominant root cause in a persons life that contributes to the development of sexual identity confusion, and SSA.
The "Good News" she proclaims is that Jesus Christ, The Great Physician, is able to heal any wound, regardless of the origin.
